About the Course
Many students think Band 7+ grammar means using lots of super advanced structures everywhere. But in reality, the list of grammatical structures that IELTS examiners actually expect from Band 7+ students is not that long.
That’s exactly what this mini course focuses on. I show you the grammatical structures that actually help students reach Band 7+ in IELTS speaking and writing and that IELTS examiners expect to see at higher bands.
At the same time, accurate basic grammar matters a lot. If a student keeps making mistakes in simple sentences, advanced grammar will not save the score. That’s why this mini course is designed for students who are already around Band 6.0 and need to make the jump to Band 7.0 and higher.
How does it work?
- a simple explanation
- IELTS-style examples
- exercises for self-checking
- suggested answers
There is also a post-test at the end of the course, which I personally check myself.
What will you learn?
You will learn how to use Band 7+
grammatical structures naturally instead of forcing them into answers.
Speaking structures you will learn:
- double comparatives using 'the... , the... '
- it-cleft sentences
- what-cleft sentences
- 'the reason why' cleft sentences
- 'not until' and 'only when' cleft sentences
- conditionals
- nowhere near as... as
Writing structures you will
learn:
- double comparatives using 'the... , the... '
- it-cleft sentences
- 'the reason why' cleft sentences
- 'not until' and 'only when' cleft sentences
- conditionals
How much time will it take?
This is a mini course, so you can complete the material itself relatively quickly. If you study it thoroughly and focus on understanding how to actually use the structures in your own speaking answers and essays, most students can get through the course in around two weeks.
Of course, if you simply read through everything once and move on, you can finish much faster than that. But grammar only becomes useful when you start actively using it in your own answers and essays until the structures begin to sound natural and automatic.
What’s the result?
This mini course is also included as one of the modules inside my full IELTS preparation course, so if you already have access to the full course, you do not need to purchase this module separately.
